Spooky Things to do on PEI this Halloween

It’s spooky season and Prince Edward Island is embracing the Halloween spirit! Locals and tourists alike can enjoy some delightfully frightening haunted happenings in PEI this October! Here are just 5 activities that are sure to be scary good fun and get you in the spooky season spirit!

1. The Haunted Mansion

Halloween Nights of Fear are back for the 22nd year! It will be running October 15th to the 30th on selected dates and times. For a spooking good time this Halloween, gather up a group of ghouls and head out to visit the Haunted Mansion – PEI’s largest, scariest haunted house! Children & the faint of heart should come during the daylight hours before their spooks come out.

2. Visit a Pioneer Graveyard

There is nothing spookier than a graveyard, except for a pioneer graveyard! PEI is full of these cemeteries dating back to the 18th century. Visit Yankee Hill Pioneer Cemetery – the final resting place of some the very first european settlers in Prince Edward Island. You may even notice that many of the family names are still common in the area today – i.e Cousins, Adams & Pickering! The cemetery is located on Cape Road in New London near Yankee Hill Beach.

3. Route 6 Motel

Walk, run or crawl through the dark and winding corridors of the Route 6 Motel. Legend is that only the hardiest of souls can make it to check out time. Cavendish Beach Adventure Zone’s ‘Route 6 Motel’ haunted house is sure to terrify and delight thrill seekers and horror enthusiasts alike!

4. Victorian-Era Seance

Join the PEI Museum and Heritage Foundation in October at Beaconsfield Historic House for a Victorian-era séance performance. Visitors will experience a reenactment of the sort of séances once hosted by 19th-century spirit mediums and experience some of the tricks and illusions that enchanted audiences of the past. This participatory history performance will be followed by a talk-back where visitors can ask questions, learn more about the impact these ghostly events had on Victorians, and discover how some of the tricks were accomplished.

5. Ghost Tours

Take a stroll through the historic districts of Summerside and Charlottetown this October. Learn all about these cities’ hair raising histories & listen to some terrifying tales! It’s sure to be a ghastly good time!

Culture Summerside Historic Ghost Walk

Volunteer actors bring to life the history of Halloween and the darker side of Summerside and Island history in the annual Ghost Walk. Ten vignettes, researched from historic sources, and written with all ages in mind, are presented throughout the historic district of Summerside.

Historic Charlottetown Ghost Tour

Led by a mysterious gravedigger, this spooky stroll is full of tales about Charlottetown’s historic downtown and its dark, mysterious, sometimes haunted past. A family-friendly experience is available on request.
